Georgia Power Supports STEM Scholarships Through the American Association of Blacks in Energy
Georgia Power continued its support of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) scholarships through the Atlanta chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE).
The $15,000 donation will be integral in helping students pursue STEM careers in the energy industry and for those entering college or continuing their education.
AABE Atlanta is led by several employees at Georgia Power, Southern Company, and Southern Company Gas, and was founded in 1982 by James K. Davis, Jr. retired senior vice president of Employee & Corporate Relations of Georgia Power Company. Their 2021 leadership team is made up completely of current employees at Georgia Power and Southern Company Gas.
Through their roles in AABE Atlanta, leadership actively pursues partnerships with organizations to ensure that upon graduation, students can become part of a resource pool that will ultimately help connect them with opportunities in the Southern Company system and with other energy companies.
