Georgia Power Supports the Atlanta Women’s Foundation Social Justice Efforts with $50,000 Donation

Georgia Power recently presented a $50,000 donation to support the Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s (AWF) social justice efforts. With this donation, AWF will support YouthSpark, an independent nonprofit organization with a focus on providing real solutions for vulnerable children and families affected by courts.

In addition, Georgia Power will be a lead sponsor of the 2021 “Numbers Too Big to Ignore” Luncheon to provide resources to change the lives of women and girls in our communities.

“The AWF is an amazing organization and provides sound due diligence on the community nonprofits and causes they support,” said Bentina Terry, senior vice president of Region External Affairs & Community Engagement at Georgia Power and former board member of AWF. “We are excited to not only be awarded recognition as Leading Sponsor of the ‘Number Too Big to Ignore’ event, but also to have the entirety of our financial commitment go towards social justice initiatives through the Atlanta Women’s Foundation.”

The Atlanta Women’s Foundation is the only public foundation in Georgia dedicated solely to women and girls and has invested $18 million into over 300 Atlanta area nonprofit organizations that have successfully moved women and girls from poverty to economic self-sufficiency. In addition to strategic grantmaking, AWF provides leadership and philanthropic training to a diverse group of professional women to empower not only themselves, but their communities as well.
