Georgia Power Employees Partner with the Initiative for Affordable Housing Atlanta for Community Service Project
Georgia Power employees from across the Atlanta area recently partnered with the Initiative for Affordable Housing to serve their neighbors in the local community. Last weekend, employees in the Citizens of Georgia Power – Metro East volunteer chapter and their families gathered to complete landscaping work, build picnic tables and chairs, and paint at a property owned by the Initiative for Affordable Housing at the Prince Avondale Apartments in DeKalb County. The community provides housing services to 43 families and seniors living with fixed incomes or low-wage jobs in the Avondale Estates neighborhood.
With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power – the employee volunteer arm of the company – gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
