November 19, 2018

Legislation of Interest:

House Bill 1EXSupplemental appropriations; State Fiscal Year July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019

–  Status: Support
–  Bill Author: Representative David Ralston (R- Blue Ridge)

–  HB 1EX amends the Fiscal Year 2019 Appropriations Act to provide roughly $270 million in emergency funding for state agencies and local governments in areas most heavily impacted by Hurricane Michael.
–  HB 1EX passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 162-1, passed the Senate by a vote of 52-0, and was signed by Governor Deal on Saturday, November 17.

House Bill 5EX: Governor; executive order suspending collection of sales and use tax levied on jet fuel; ratify

–  Status: Support
–  Bill Author: Representative Trey Rhodes (R– Greensboro) 

–  HB 5EX provides for ratification of Governor Deal’s Executive Order, dated July 30, 2018, which suspended the collection of any rate of sales and use tax on jet fuel. HB 5EX will continue the sales and use tax exemption on jet fuel through June 30, 2019.
–  HB 5EX passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 141-18, passed the Senate by a vote of 43-9, and was signed by Governor Deal on Saturday, November 17.
