Secretary of State “Money Talks” Program Partners with Fulton County Schools for Financial Literacy Month

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is announcing the success of the Money Talks financial literacy program to educate Georgia students on personal finance skills. Participating schools included Centennial High School, Langston Hughes High School, Northwestern Middle School, Cambridge High School, and Banneker High School. Each school was provided free booklets by Secretary Raffensperger on saving, investing and growing their wealth: Investor & Financial Literacy Guide, Strategies for Investing Wisely & Avoiding Financial Fraud, as well as Starting Your Financial Future: Making Informed When Starting Your New Job.

“Educating the next generation on money management is crucial for our State,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “These students will be better prepared for their future.”

“Money Talks” strongly supports the Secretary’s goal to empower, educate, and encourage students in Georgia. Money Talks is led by a moderator and panel of Georgia speakers from various financial sectors to educate students on practical money skills which includes budgeting, saving and investing, maximizing income, credit and loans, and minimizing the cost of college.

The event was moderated by Art Terrell, WJZA radio personality. Panelists included Sileta Bell, President of The Bell Consultants, Ebony Francis with AvestiCorp, and Leanne Francis, a Senior Consultant with Deloitte.

The Securities Division, which provides the financial literacy programs, would like to extend a special thank you to Fulton County Schools Program Specialist for Personal Finance, Addie Taylor, for giving us the opportunity to empower Fulton County High students to be financially savvy.
