Delta to Welcome Chief Sustainability Officer

Amid the challenges of the pandemic, we have accelerated our efforts to combat the crisis of climate change and build a sustainable future for air travel – something that’s essential for Delta’s long-term success.

As we move into the next phase of the recovery, we’ll be building on our sustainability efforts and expanding our leading position in the industry on our path to net zero. I’m happy to announce that Pamela Fletcher will be joining Delta to lead that effort as our new Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer – the airline industry’s only C-Suite level CSO.

In her new role, Pam will report directly to me and will join the Delta Leadership Committee. She will begin Feb. 1.

In addition, I’m happy to announce that Amelia DeLuca is being promoted to Vice President – Sustainability, reporting to Pam. Amelia’s outstanding work leading our sustainability efforts over the past year has established Delta as an industry leader and she will be an essential part of the team moving forward.

Under Amelia’s leadership, the sustainability team’s many accomplishments include securing vital sustainable aviation fuel agreements to help grow the market, committing to set science-based emissions targets, forging impactful coalitions across industries and setting a standard for transparency.

Pam joins us from General Motors, where she established an impressive track record leading innovation across a broad range of initiatives. She has an extensive history of putting the customer first and delivering products and services that help to enable a world free of emissions.

Pam’s most recent assignment was Vice President of Global Innovation, where she was responsible for developing and growing new businesses, disrupting established industries, entering new markets and attracting new customers. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Electric Vehicles, where she led the teams responsible for developing electric and autonomous vehicles.

Pam has over two decades of experience in a number of other automotive and transportation leadership roles. She earned a Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering from Kettering University in Flint, Michigan and Wayne State University in Detroit. A native of Sarahsville, Ohio, Pam and her husband Larry are excited to become part of the Delta family and make the move to Atlanta.

Bringing in a leader of Pam’s caliber will give Delta the dedicated focus and ambition to lead the industry to a sustainable future. Her expertise and credibility will expand our ability to forge innovative partnerships, develop cutting-edge clean fuel and technology and invest wisely to reduce carbon emissions and waste in the years ahead. We’re excited that she will be bringing her deep experience, skills and vision to Delta as we chart our sustainable future together.
