The joint venture led by global construction and development firm Skanska, along with New South Construction, FS360 and Synergy Construction, announces the delivery of the first phase of a project at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport – four new gates at the north end of Concourse T. The gates were delivered ahead of schedule for use by United Airlines.
In addition to building the gates, the joint venture also rebuilt a major portion of the North Terminal exit road, constructed a Delta Air Lines ground support equipment facility and a fire station, as well as oversaw relocations to the utilities’ infrastructure.
The project at the world’s busiest passenger airport is part of a broader expansion and renovation plan, ATLNext, which will increase capacity, renew and replace existing facilities and enhance the airport’s aesthetic appeal.
“Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson remains one of the most active and efficient airports in the world and our team is proud to have delivered the new gates ahead of schedule,” said Scott Cannon, executive vice president and general manager of Skanska’s building operations in Georgia and South Carolina. “The Concourse T-North extension and renovation effort meets the expanding needs of passengers by elevating the level of customer service offered by the airport.”
