Wellstar is transitioning our AMC South hospital campus into a new outpatient care model, providing access to everyone, and providing it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This new care model will better serve the healthcare needs of our patients, while also helping patients manage health issues before they escalate to more serious or chronic health conditions, by providing access to primary care and rehabilitative services early on. We expect to complete this transition by May 6th.
Acute care inpatient hospital services that are currently provided at the South Campus will be consolidated to the AMC Main Campus. We have the capacity to meet these patient care needs at AMC Main, and, with the addition of team members from AMC South, the workforce to do so. At AMC Main we will continue to improve patient care, ensuring that we can meet the community’s higher acuity patient needs while building on Main’s strong reputation for Graduate Medical Education and trauma care. Our intent is to is to preserve and build upon these programs.
We are confident that our AMC South team members will have opportunities at the Main Campus or other Wellstar care sites in the area.
We are confident that these transitions are the right decision. For team members, patients, and the community, we also want to be clear that this transition will not affect AMC’s daily operations. We remain committed to serving our AMC and East Point communities and getting this care model right for our patients. We are also committed to keeping our communities informed.
