Hartsfield-Jackson Begins North Parking Deck Renewal Project

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) continues its Parking Deck Renewal Project. The ParkATL projects within ATLNext, the Airport’s capital improvement program, include elements of renewal, replacement and new development of the parking facilities. The project will affect parking over the next several months.

Currently, the North Parking Deck Renewal Project requires North Hourly parking level closures. Though there will be detours and limited capacity, the North Deck will remain operational with a minimum of 3,000 spaces available during the construction. It is expected to be completed in late October 2023.

The multiyear Domestic Terminal Parking Deck Renewal and Replacement Project will extend the decks’ utility before their eventual replacement. The North Deck project follows the ongoing South Deck Renewal project, which began in April 2022. South Deck repairs were approximately $17 million for an extended life expectancy of 5 years. North Deck repairs will be approximately $20 million for an extended life expectancy of 10 years.

Construction of the new South Deck will begin this fall. South Deck Phase 1 will be located in the north half of the current South Economy Lot. Once completed, the new South Deck will be seven levels tall and contain approximately 7,800 parking stalls. Similar to ATL West Deck, the new South Deck will feature state-of-the-art components such as digital parking space availability and wayfinding, ticketless entry and exit, LED lighting, and other features to provide a seamless parking experience. The complete replacement of both the North and South parking decks will take place over the coming years.

Airport officials have created an outreach plan to ensure customers know parking options. Please visit atl.com for the latest traffic and parking information.
